GSL announces retirement

Our Group Scout Leader, Akela, Brown Eagle or Alan which ever you prefer has announced his intention to retire from Scouting at the end of July 2011.
Alan has been involved with 1st Dartford Scout Group for over 30 years, initially as a Cub Leader and then the Group Scout Leader for 14 years and also on a District level as District Training Adviser for 5 years
"During my time with the 1st hundreds of youngsters have passed through the Group, and I hope we have given them the opportunity to try new activities and gain confidence and respect in themselves. I know it has worked for me; I have learnt new skills, tried new activities and spent many happy evenings sitting round a camp fire into the small hours of the morning with friends". Alan looks happy below at the St George's Day Parade, and is looking forward to pursuing other activities and spending more time with Holly, the love of his life (his Boxer dog)
