Family Camp and AGM - Hopehill

30th June 2012

1st Dartford held our annual overnight family camp at Hopehill Campsite at Meopham, incorporating our AGM.

Over 75 parents and children joined leaders and executive for an adventurous weekend of family fun. Everyone is encouraged to come along, tents provided where necessary, even help given to  put them up.

We had an afternoon of firelighting, go karts, tracking, string trail, prussicking, pioneering and backwoods cooking, the youngsters enjoying showing parents what we get up to at scouting.

After a quick tidy up we had a swift AGM. It was pleasing to find new members for the executive. If you are interested but were too shy on the night please contact David Kennard our Chairman. A super BBQ followed thanks to Exec members.

Our next activity was a group game of rounders, which may have been in danger of being stopped as the fellas did get rather competitive.

After a lovely campfire and marshmallows we retired.

Sunday morning saw a repeat of some of the previous afternoons activties and shooting for the adults. As the weather stayed fine, members enjoyed a water slide on the field, it was difficult to know who was who with all the soap suds.

Leaders, Exec and friends, thank you for all your hard work if was a great weekend, Alan, Group Scout Leader.
