Dartford District Standard Competition
22nd April 2012
1st Dartford Redwood Forest Beaver Colony are proud to announce they were the 2011 winners of the District Standard Competition. This is a competition for Groups or Sections and reflects the chartiably work done outside fundraising for our own Groups as we are all charities too.
Our Beavers learn about the work of Marie Curie nurses and regularly do fundraising activities, we hope a little and often is a good way of supporting this charity. We have planted daffodils, had a tea party with other sections, sold daffodil biscuits, and sold pin badges. Our photos are this year being used on their promotional material for the Big Tea Party.
Our Scout Group supports Yoweri, a young boy who lives in Uganda, without the regular support from our Group he would not attend school. He needs shoes to be able to go, something we take for granted, our sponsorship allows shoes to be bought and then for him to walk the 45 mins to school every day and back.
Please see Charity News for all the other things we get involved in as a section and as a Scout Group
Our Beavers now get the honour of presenting the District Standard flag at various District events during 2012 and next years St George's Day Parade. We hope we can ask our Young Leader, Dan Field to help us as its rather a large and heavy flag!
