Beaver Section Sleepover
7th May 2011
Our Beavers held a sleep-over at our Scout Hall and the theme was nature. We went straight out for a full day at Rainham Nature Park near Gillingham We were very lucky with the weather and first of all enjoyed a walk out along the coastal path into the estuary. We collected rocks, shells, seaweed, flotsam and jettsom including loads of crabs and claws. At the end of the walk we hunted for pottery from old marmalade jars which was originally used to make the walkway. It is possible to find the pottery with words on which always keeps the beavers occupied for ages. We had a very special visitor with us for her first sleepover, Brown Eagle and Silver Cloud have a two year old Boxer dog, called Holly. She was a great hit with all the beavers.
On returning to the minibus, we played in the adventure playground, had a go with our own rocket launcher, played with bubbles (Holly's favourite past time) and the earth ball.
We arrived back at the hall for tea quite tired but having enjoyed our day. The beavers played with lego, had a beetle drive and eventually went off to bed for stories from Brown Eagle.
The next morning after a cooked breakfast, we made hairy harriets and soon found it was time to tidy up and pack to go home.
Thanks to all the beaver leaders who put so much into sleepovers that the baevers never want to leave.
